2023 US Senior Open: Prize Money Breakdown and Winner’s Payout

The 43rd US Senior Open Championship 2023 is scheduled to take place from Thursday, June 29th, to Sunday, July 2nd, 2023.

The tournament will be held at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

With a magnificent purse, fans eagerly await to see who will emerge as the champion and claim the prize money.

Field of the 2023 US Senior Open

A field of 156 players will compete in the tournament, including the defending champion from 2022, Padraig Harrington.

Harrington won the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open last week and he should fancy his chances heading into the event which attracted more than 3,000 entries.

Last year at the US Senior Open, Harrington beat Steve Stricker, the 2019 champion, by one stroke to secure the title.

Harrington and the 12 other previous Senior Open Champions are fully exempt for this event.

Kenny Perry, a two-time winner, is also one of the favourites to lift the trophy heading into the first round.

Other notables names playing in the event are: Ernie Els, Colin Montgomerie and Vijay Singh.

The course in Wisconsin is built over 200 acres of lush terrain with 35 acres of spring-fed lakes. The course boasts birch and pine trees as well as five acres of flowerbeds.

The course is considered to be player-friendly. The golf course’s signature hole is the par-3 16, with a sea of vibrant and colorful flowers all around catching the eye.

 

Total purse and winner’s cut at the event

The US Senior Open’s total prize money is $4 million. The winner will take $720,000 home. The prize money breakdown is as follows:

“It is gratifying to see the worldwide interest that thousands of golfers have in competing for both a place in the U.S. Senior Open field and ultimately earning the Francis D. Ouimet Memorial Trophy as champion,” said John Bodenhamer, the USGA Chief Championships Officer.
