What did Sergio Garcia say about playing in the Ryder Cup?

LIV Golf rebel, Sergio Garcia, could not qualify for this year’s Ryder Cup after failing to enter the Mallorca Open. And after some other players expressed their opinions stating they didn’t want LIV players to participate, Garcia decided to step back.

“I’ve always said I love the Ryder Cup too much,” Garcia said in an interview with Sports Illustrated. “I obviously would love to keep being a part of it. When I see that so many people are against it – if the team is better without me, I’d rather be out of it.” According to Garcia, many other players had the same thought process about his participation in the Ryder Cup. And therefore, to avoid hurting the team, Garcia said he would not force himself into the tournament.
