The records made in the world of golf are most commonly achieved by Tiger Woods. To match him in the list of records isn’t an easy task. After months of buildup to the Hero World Challenge, the event finally concluded successfully. Though the event host Tiger Woods withdrew from the event just days before the commencement, the tournament was no short of exciting moments.

In the end, the Norwegian Viktor Hovland stood victorious as he struck 2 stroke lead over former world number one Scottie Scheffler. Albeit the win in itself is an immense feat, Hovland also broke a record with his win at Albany Golf Club.

What Tiger Woods’ record did Viktor Hovland match?

The Norwegian’s triumph this past week wasn’t his first Hero World Champions win. Last year, Hovland had a similar evening at the Albany Golf Club, where he went on to win the tournament. Apart from the similar winner to last year, Scheffler also happened to be the runner-up of last year’s event.

Since it’s hard to match most of Woods’ records in the sport, Hovland was over the moon after matching one of his records. However, following his final putt, the 2022 Hero World Challenge was asked about his emotions after matching the record while also receiving the trophy from Woods. “That’s pretty badass”, replied Hovland.

Undoubtedly, being listed next to Tiger Woods is quite badass. However, Hovland hopes to match more records of the Hall of Famer. In recent years, the Oslo-born golfer has shown glimpses of great potential and growth. Still only 25 years of age, we may as well see Hovland match many more records and achievements of Woods.
