We will leave for other times, but let’s find out what the pro golfer had to say about the rivalry in the golf world.

Was the perspective of Sahith Theegala right?

When LIV was launched, chaos formed in the golf world, and many speculations took place. They accused players of leaving PGA to join LIV for running after money, as they were getting paid big bucks. Since Saudi funds backed the circuit, there was never a financial crisis faced by LIV. But Theegala believes that the rivalry has made the PGA tour better. He said“It’s great for the players because it’s making the Tour more competitive, and it’s better for the players now.”

Although, the 24-year-old golfer thinks that every thought spent on the rivalry affects both the tours and their decisions. He pointed out that people might not want to accept it, but every shred of idea and step taken affects everyone in the golf world. He said, “I think no matter what everyone feels about either tour, whatever opinions they have or thoughts they have, I think it affects everyone whether they want to admit it or not.”

Since more players and big names like Phil Mickelson, Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, and many more left PGA, the tour was at a loss. Therefore, to retain the players, the rival of LIV came up with new rules and better paychecks. They introduced new perks and benefits for players. As a result, it wasn’t just LIV players enjoying the perks. Theegala said that the competitiveness has made both the tours work harder and provide better benefits to players, so they stay.

Is Theegala joining LIV?

During the Houston Open pre-tournament, Theegala confessed that he grew up dreaming of playing on the PGA tour. Now that his dream has come true, there is no way he is going to abandon it. He also pointed out that PGA has always been his focus. However, he does not have any problem with other stuff, i.e., LIV. Although, the pro golfer feels we made a bigger deal out of it. He said, “It’s just I think it’s been made a little bit a bigger deal than most.”
