

The year 2022 saw the sport of golf have more drama unfold off the course than on the course competing. The arrival of LIV Golf brought an intense level of competition to the table for the PGA Tour. The Saudi-funded Tour seized several of the top PGA Tour stars within a few months. However, the LIV CEO, Greg Norman, recently announced that their buying spree of PGA Tour talent isn’t over yet.
The LIV Golf recently concluded its inaugural season with a finale team event at Trump National Doral in Florida. Despite signing some of the biggest names in the sport such as Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Brooks Koepka, to name a few, the Breakaway Tour plans to make its second season in 2023 bigger than the first.

To achieve this feat, Commissioner, Greg Norman, announced that the Tour will acquire nearly 7 more players from their nemesis. Moreover, he believes that most PGA Tour stars want to join the Saudi-funded Tour. Let’s take a look at what the Australian Shark had to say.
PGA Tour players are willing to be liberated, says LIV Golf CEO
Following the lucrative Tour’s final event in Miami, fans were intrigued to know the next developments adopted by LIV Golf. Being the head of the table, Greg Norman gave the fans an idea of what the next steps taken by the Tour will be. He announced the signing of at least 7 players who are ranked in the Top-20.

Apart from the hints of signing new defectors, Norman also mentioned how LIV Golf has become much more appealing to the PGA Tour stars. He said, “Quite honestly, the players on the outside looking in to see what’s happening with LIV today, these guys still talk to each other”.

The LIV Chief further mentions how PGA Tour stars want to be freed from the 92-year-old Tour. Norman said, “The ones on LIV feel like they have been liberated. There are players on the PGA Tour that we’re speaking to today want to be liberated”. LIV Golf will undergo massive changes in the following season.
It plans to expand its already exorbitant prize money to $405 million with only 14 events to compete. Moreover, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schaufelle, who are ranked 4 and 6 in the World Golf rankings respectively, are already rumored to be the latest members of the Tour. With both players placed in the Top 20, they surely fall in Norman’s new signees. But who will join LIV Golf next?
