The Sentosa Golf Club, Tanjong Course in Singapore, is hosting the 2022 HSBC Women’s Championship. While the golfers were competing against each other to win the LPGA event, some cute intruders appeared on the golf course.

The Tour posted the video of a pack of otters “sunbathing” in the golf course bunkers on their social media page.

In the video, a pack of otters is seen rubbing themselves in the sand in the bunker. The commentator couldn’t help from being funny when she spotted them on the camera. She said, “Oh! my friends have joined golf.”

The otters groom their fur to maintain them. They groom or dry their fur by vigorously rolling over the ground or rubbing against wood. 

When was the otter first spotted at an LPGA event?

The South Korean professional golfer Mirim Lee spotted an otter at a golf course for the first time. Interestingly, she was then participating in the HSBC Championship at the Sentosa Golf Club.

The official website of Sentosa city of Singapore has allocated a page containing instructions about the do’s and dont’s when you spot an otter in the city. The website of City only suggests people to observe them from far as they easily get scared by noises and camera flashlights. The city allows the animals to roam around freely. Therefore, it is not unusual to spot a group of otters there.

This has been the second time the otters have appeared at the HSBC event. The chances of spotting a group of otters sunbathing or taking pictures with the golfers are highly likely to happen in the future, as long as Sentosa hosts the HSBC Championship. 

The 2022 HSBC Women’s Championship

After the two rounds, South Korean professional golfers Jin Young Ko and Amy Yang have tied for first place. The duo had each scored 5-under 67 in the second round to attain that spot. 

Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson, American Megan Khang, and Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand are tied for third place. Notably, the 2022 edition of the HSBC tournament is Thitikul’s first event as an LPGA Rookie.
