Tiger Woods with father Earl Woods on The Oprah Winfrey Show

It was in the year 1998 when Tiger Woods was sitting on the couch alongside his late father, Earl Woods, on a U.S. TV talk show called “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. The show featured a book written by Woods’ old man that contained a letter for the golfer. It is known that the letter was written by Mr. Earl Woods after his son won the Masters in 1997. This happened one day before the book written by Earl Woods called “Playing Through” was to be released.

Tiger Woods was soon seen wiping away his tears with a soft smile on his face after Oprah Winfrey started to recite the letter to Woods. Oprah also asked Tiger if he had ever seen the letter before, to which Woods replied that he hadn’t.

“Dear Tiger, You are my little man. You are my treasure. God gave you to me to nurture and to grow and to develop. I always have had your interests first and foremost in my life and it always will be. In fact, you mean more to me than life itself,” the letter reads, showing the immense love of a father for his son.

The letter appeared to be an emotional roller-coaster for the golfer as it further said, “I can remember when I taught you that it was okay to cry and that men can cry. It was not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength…” It was after these lines that the pro golfer had tears in his eyes, and it was not long before his father was seen silently sobbing right next to him. The father-son duo held hands while Oprah congratulated Sr. Woods for being a wonderful father and appreciated the touching words that he wrote for his son.
