WATCH: Gary Player Shares Tips to Master Green Reading

On more than one occasion, Gary Player has shared his putting expertise with the world. The 86-year-old has almost seven decades of experience and this, of course, comes with superb knowledge and mastery of skills.

Notably, putting could be one of the hardest skills to master in golf. Driving, iron-play and everything can be in vain if you add a couple of extra strokes because of poor putting. However, fret not, cause Player, the 9-time-major champion is here for us. He posted a video on Twitter giving his tips on green-reading and we’re all for it!

Gary Player shares tips for green-reading

Player took to Twitter and, along with Blair Wheeler, gave us all some much-needed advice on how to improve our putting by learning how to read greens. He wrote, “Do you struggle reading greens, and thus with your putting game? I shared a few reliable tips for green reading with my friend @blair_wheeler recently, and now you get to hear them as well. Give these a try next time you play, and let me know if they help your short game!”

In the video, he first mentions that two of the best putters he’s ever seen are Bobby Locke from South Africa and Tiger Woods. He goes on to mention that when reading the green, the first thing to study is the cup. Further, he talks about how a side of the cup will be worn out, the area of contact with the ball.
