Na Yeon Choi is a South Korean professional golfer playing on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. The pro golfer has had a long history of wins in women’s golf. She changed her life around for her passion for golf. However, all her attempts did not go in vain.

In July 2012, she won the U.S. Women’s Open for her first major championship. Clearly, Choi has had a successful career. Recently, she announced her retirement. However, something surprising happened in her last match.

Na Yeon Choi  hits an ace as her retirement shot

Na Yeon Choi is going to retire from the LPGA after this week’s BMW Ladies Championship. She is currently playing on a sponsor exemption. Choi has had a long career full of ups and downs. The pro golfer has faced her share of struggle and put in her share of hard work to be where she is today.

The pro golfer will turn 35 this month. She has won nine times on the LPGA, including the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open, and ranked as high as No. 2. She is also not far behind in cementing her feet as 19th on the career money list.

In her last match that happened recently, Choi hit an ace. An ace, otherwise known as a “Hole-in-One”, is one of the scores in golf that is acquired with only a single stroke.

After all, the pro golfer did decide to retire in style. Her shot was commendable and was highly talked about by everyone present on the course.

Choi also talked on the topic of her retirement in a pre-tournament press conference. She said, “I had been considering it, so I gave myself this season and around midseason, it sort of crystalized into this decision to retire.”

The almost-retired pro golfer added, “There was no one single moment where I decided this was the time to announce my retirement. I have been playing for a long time and want to start something new as fast as possible, and I have no idea what that’s going to be. But I have no regrets about my career as a golfer… I’m very excited to start the second chapter.”
