The 2023 edition of the Wells Fargo Championship will begin next week, with the PGA Tour unveiling the field for the event. Reigning champion and World no. 7 Max Homa is all set to return to defend the title. Meanwhile, World No. 3 Rory McIlroy, who withdrew from the recently concluded RBC Heritage, will also return to action. However, two big names will be missing from the field when the event kicks off at Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Club. These two heavyweights are none other than World No. 1 Jon Rahm and World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler, whose absence from the 8th elevated event of the season will leave many feeling disappointed.

The first Major of the year saw Jon Rahm clinching his first-ever green jacket at the Augusta National. Days after his win, the Spaniard headed to Hilton Head for the RBC Heritage tournament, where he finished T11. Recently, he also arrived at the Vidanta Vallarta to defend his 2022 Mexico Open title. Last year’s prize purse for the event was $9,000,000, with winner Max Homa taking home $1,620,000. After the PGA Tour boosted the purse for the event, the winner’s payout now stands at an incredible $3,600,000.
