The passing of each minute at the 2023 PNC Championship seems to trigger more of the fans’ intrigue regarding the teams playing in the event. As the second round progresses, Team Langer seems to be in luck. This year, Bernhard Langer is paired up with his son, Jason Langer, for the tournament. Their swift performance has led to curious questions about Jason Langer’s career.

Like most prominent golfers’ children, many would expect Jason Langer to be motivated to establish a full-time golf career. After all, his father is one of golf’s all-time greats, with more than 100 wins in his bag of achievements. However, that is not the case. So what does Jason Langer do for a living?

Apart from following his 66-year-old Golf World Hall of Fame father’s legacy and playing varsity-level men’s golf, Jason Langer is also an investment banking analyst at ‘Centerview Partners’. The Wharton School of Business graduate is currently a full-time employee at the New York-based investment banking firm, where he specializes in generalist M&A and strategic advisory.

Back in 2021, he worked at the same firm in the summer. During his graduation years, he also interned at ‘Berenberg Capital Markets’ (2020) and ‘Merrill Lynch’ (2019) as an equity research summer analyst and wealth management summer analyst, respectively. The 2019 PNC Champion surely has a decorated resume when it comes to his field of expertise.

Apart from doing investment banking for a living, the 23-year-old prodigy’s interest in the game of golf is apparent through his experience in varsity-level golf. In the 2021–22 season, he competed in five tournaments and had a 76.8 stroke average.

The German professional golfer’s son has proven to be lucky for him on multiple occasions, especially at the PNC Championship. Team Bernhard has won the tournament four times, but all of these four wins were not with Jason. Who else could it be?

Team Langer has won the former father/son challenge in 2005, 2006, 2014, and 2019. The first two victories came with the golfer’s son, Stefan. Whenever Bernhard Langer and Jason have joined hands at the PNC Championship, their performance has exceeded everyone’s expectations. Call it luck or just a deeper father-son connection, this duo has not disappointed their fans. 2014 marked Jason’s first win at the championship with his father.

Ever since then, Team Langer has gone on to impress everyone with their game. They secured a runner-up position in 2017 and then again the first position in 2019. They have also had two other top-ten finishes in 2015 and 2022. This year’s result is yet to be seen, but this lucky father-son pairing seems to be doing fairly well.

I, Daiemah Malik, have loved writing for as long as I can remember. It started with practicing poetry in front of the mirror, eventually translating into my passion for writing at EssentiallySports. The values that the sport of golf has instilled in my writing are truly incomparable, and because of it, writing currently tops my to-do list on a dull day, coming over even my love for indulging in spirited debates on anything and everything, including my hidden forte, politics.
