The foundation of Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation traces back to a critical episode in the life of golf legend Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara. The day began when their 11-month-old baby girl experienced distressing moments, struggling to breathe, and experiencing relapsed choking incidents.

Pеrplеxеd by the situation, the concerned parents sought help at Columbus Children’s Hospital, now Nationwide Children’s. After the diagnosis using an adult bronchoscopе, doctors unearthed the cause. They found out that Nan had accidentally inhaled a blue crayon. Unfortunately, the crayon had broken into pieces and had lodged in her lungs.

The hard moments of their lives helped in strengthening their commitment to establishing their foundation. Talking about his pledge, the 73x PGA Tour winner said, “It was then that we pledged to each other that if we were ever in a position to help others, we wanted to help children.”

The idea behind the foundation of this social venture by the Golden Bear was indeed tremendous, and heartfelt. But what does the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation actually do?
