From homeschool to Florida State University and now to the PGA Tour, John Pak’s name has been turning heads wherever he performs. All thanks to his father, who helped him with early exposure to golf. Early learning and then pursuing it with seriousness led to one of the most decorated careers at the FSU just after high school. Pak etched his name in history with 8 collegiate tournament victories, numerous awards, a perfect score of 3-0-0 at the 2019 Walker Cup, the lowest scoring average of 69.6 as a sophomore, and many accolades.

He, after being a collegiate golfer, made a big performance turnaround at the Korn Ferry Tour and the PGA Tour Canada. This season marks his rookie year on the PGA Tour, and he is gaining popularity. After the first round of the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge, Pak led the field by 3 strokes. With his game on the rise, fans want to know about his family and ethnicity.

Born to Kwang and Michelle Pak in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, he was the youngest among the 5 siblings and the only golfer. For the exposure and golf training, John Pak and his father moved to Orlando. Being born and brought up in the USA, he has American nationality. Even though there isn’t much information about his family, apart from his father’s grocery store.

But with his last name, having the Korean descent is evident. John Pak has a Korean-American heritage, which gives an insight into his culture. One can argue that it is just a matter of time, as the golfer might join the list of top names with his performance scaling an upward trend.

John Pak’s performance on the PGA Tour

The 26-year-old, after finishing the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour standings in 23rd place, got the PGA Tour card. Interestingly, coming with two professional wins, the expectations were high, and in fact, he has not disappointed until now. Even though his best finish came at the Mexico Open, which was T17, what has impressed the community is his consistency. The golfer as a rookie has only 5 missed cuts out of 13 participations in 2025.

Even to dig deeper into his performance, he has only 11 over-par rounds from the total of 40 rounds played, approximately. Even his course stats are worth noting, as he is 9th on scrambling from rough with 66.67%, has 65.61% driving accuracy, and the stroke gained approach to the green (0.159) is among the top names in the sport.
