Michael Jordan’s involvement in golf dates back to his NBA debut with the Chicago Bulls. A casual invitation from friends sparked his interest in the sport, which turned into a hobby he stuck with even after retirement. Of course, Jordan is not a professional golfer and plays with a handicap.

Let’s take a look at the Bulls legend’s golf handicap.

What is Michael Jordan’s golf handicap?

Considered the greatest basketball player of all time, Jordan’s not too bad on the golf course either. As per reports, the six-time NBA champion has a golf handicap of 1.3, which is much better than many other celebrity golfers. Moreover, Jordan has been golfing for over three decades now.

Even during his NBA peak, His Airness was known to go and play a few rounds before a game. Over the years, Jordan has developed various golf connections, ranging from Pat Perez to Tiger Woods.

How did Jordan start playing golf?

When Jordan did start playing golf, no one expected him to make it such a big part of his life. He started hitting balls with Buzz Peterson and Davis Love III, playing his first round with the latter. He reportedly shot a bogey (or worse) on 17 out of 18 holes, only managing one par. By the looks of his current handicap, Jordan’s skills have improved drastically.

“He started off just tagging along and driving the cart or walking around with us, just because there were so many guys playing,” Love said during an interview. “He tried to come out and hack it around and hang out”.

Eventually, Jordan wanted to hit a few shots himself, which got him more interested in the sport.

He even has a 3,500 sq ft putting green in his backyard, where he shoots around 36 holes per day. Someone so attached to golf, Jordan is a part of 12 private golf clubs, and owns over 40 club sets.

Grove XXIII: A little about Jordan’s golf course

Located in Hobe Sound, Sout Florida, Jordan’s luxurious Grove XXIII is named after his jersey number. The site is known to be picturesque, a perfect combination of obstacles, water, and greens. What caught people’s eye was an on-course drone – which delivers drinks to players. While speaking of the course, PGA Tour star Ricke Fowler revealed that it has actually earned the name “Slaughterhouse 23”.

Additionally, the uber-exclusive course seems to have only 75 members.

Having said that, be it his game or golf course, one can tell that Jordan’s love for golf is not going away any time soon.
