This week the TGR JR Invitational is being held at the Pebble Beach Resorts from 7–9 October. The tournament is presented by TaylorMade. The event will have 30 boys and 30 girls. TGR is a new initiative by Tiger Woods toward the upliftment of young golfers.

The inaugural edition was played last year where 6 winners emerged. The game is distributed between the two genders on the basis of age groups. The boys and girls have different divisions of ages 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18. Let’s find out more about the ongoing event.

What happens at the TGR JR Invitational?

In 2022, the inaugural session of the TGR Jr Invitational was held featuring 60 junior golfers. It was hosted by Woods himself. At the opening of the event, he said “We wanted to create an experience that the competitors and parents will always remember.”

He added, “It’s an opportunity to compete and for these kids to showcase their talent, but this tournament is all about the fun factor.” For the game, thirty boys and thirty girls from different backgrounds are invited to compete through a process that provides them exposure to golf.

The participants who vary in age from 10 to 18 are competing on two of Pebble Beach’s historic courses. Qualifying matches take place at The Hay, which is the Tiger Woods and TGR Design reimagined short course. Championship and consolation matches take place at The Links at Spanish Bay.

A special dinner is also hosted where the junior golfers are involved in a Q and A session with Woods himself answering the queries of the young players. Another thing came out of the event that has set the rumor mill abuzz.

Tiger Woods practicing makes waves!

This year too Woods, currently recovering from his injuries and subsequent surgery, is present at Pebble Beach to increase the enthusiasm of the players and raise their spirits. He was seen practicing too which has put the golf world on fire. Reports suggest he is likely to play in the Bahamas event next month.

Though fans are concerned since Woods looked to be in some discomfort in his follow-through. His takeaway wasn’t inspiring either. Fans are of the opinion that Woods should not rush his comeback.
