LIV Golf has been focusing on giving everything to the players in their league that they were not receiving in their previous tours. Be it the freedom to wear shorts in tournaments, or the high-paying deals to sign contracts with them, LIV has been trying unique ways to get new players. And during his search for new stars to play in their league, Norman got his hands on the 2022 Open Championship winner, Cameron Smith.

The golfer was having a tough time settling in among the players in the new league. However, as per recent reports, Smith was honored by Australian golf’s most prestigious award, the “Greg Norman Medal’. According to sources, the award is presented to Australia’s best male or female Tour professional on the international stage. And by earning this medal, Smith has proven his worth to the world yet again.
Why was Smith awarded the Greg Norman Medal?
The reason Smith received this invaluable award is his because of his career-best season. The golfer started with a major victory at the 150th Open Championship. And towards the end of the season, Smith reached the second rank according to the 2022 world rankings. Smith also won the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii at the start of the year with a record score of 34-under par.
