Every shot counts at Yas Links Golf Club, even the ones played after the initial four rounds. Nothing would compare to the pressure when the final round ends in a tie and the tournament’s fate hangs on a single hole. The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship follows a sudden-death playoff format. Players will tee off on the 18th hole until one player scores the lowest to win the tournament. As of the moment the report went to publishing, Aaron Rai and Tommy Fleetwood are knotted at 25-under. If they remain tied after the 72nd hole, they will have to battle it out on the very same hole again until one of them emerges as the champion.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is a 72-hole stroke play event held at Yas Links Golf Club, Abu Dhabi. The field initially consists of 70 players based on the Race to Dubai rankings. There is no cut after 36 holes, so the players didn’t have to worry about the regular cut day.  The winner earns a significant prize share from a $9 million purse and gets 1,500 DP World Tour points plus Official World Golf Ranking points. The champion also receives a two-season exemption on the DP World Tour and entry into other tournaments.
