Paige Spiranac is one of the most well-known golfing entities. She has a substantial following on social media and even has a podcast where she discusses the game every week. Recently she talked about Rory McIlroy’s disappointment and his decision to skip post-round interviews.

Rory McIlroy was leading the 2022 PGA Championship after round one. However, as it has been happening for a couple of years, McIlroy lost momentum and slipped down the leaderboard. Therefore, the Irish golfer was completely frustrated as he finished the Championship 8th with a score of -2.

Meanwhile, after completing the round, he skipped the media session, which is rare. He is seldom seen so upset and disappointed after the final round put Spiranac in disbelief. “Rory gets a pass? He doesn’t turn down interviews all the time.”

“Rory turned it down because I think Rory is just… hearing everything that everyone is saying, and he’s hearing what he is saying in his own head, and it’s just a lot,” believes Spiranac. McIlroy took the lead early on, but one horrific round put him out of contention. Although he played a blinder on Sunday, it did not matter as he had slipped far behind from recovery.

Paige Spiranac says it breaks her heart to see Rory McIlroy struggle

Paige Spiranac said she wants to know what happened to McIlroy, who was fiery and had no fear. Moreover, she believes these days the 33-year-old can’t be consistent throughout four rounds.

“What’s going on between his ears that’s causing him to continuously do this over and over again? It’s happening continuously now,” concluded Spiranac.
