Which was the first PGA Tour event that Tiger Woods played?
Tiger made his first appearance of the 2022 season at the Genesis Invitational. While he is the host of the event, he will not be taking the field. Tigers Foundation, TGR Foundation, is the primary charitable beneficiary of the event. Not to mention, this is not just a regular event for Mr. T as he has various memories attached to the event, being his first event on the PGA Tour.

Tiger played his first PGA Tour event back in 1992 at the age of 16. He appeared on the Nissan Los Angeles Open, now known as the Genesis Invitational, back in 1992. Woods would often attend the event with his father. In fact, he even tried to make it to the event in 1992 at the age of 15.

However, he could not do so after he shot a seven-under-par and missed the opportunity by three strokes. Tiger made it a year after in 1992. Truly, a surreal moment for Woods, featuring on the PGA Tour at such a young age.

How did Tiger perform at his first PGA Tour event?
Tiger appeared in the event as an amateur and shot two consecutive rounds in the ’70s. He shot an opening-round 72 and a second-round 75, as a result, shooting a five-over-par 147, to miss the cut by six shots at the Riviera Country Club. He finished 17 strokes behind the 36 hole leader, Davis Love 3.
He also spoke about how he felt after the second round. He said, “These were the best two days of my life. I’ve never had this much support before. After every shot, the people clapped. When I hit a bad shot, they still clapped. If I two-putted, they still clapped.”
Not to forget, Fred Couples won the 1992 Nissan Los Angeles Open. He finished the event with an overall score of 15 under par, defeating Davis Love III in an epic two-man playoff.

Which event was Tigers’ first event as a professional?
After four years since his first appearance on the PGA Tour as an amateur, Woods made his debut as a professional on the Greater Milwaukee Open in 1996. He finished the event with an overall score of seven-under-par, 277; As a result, finishing the event tied for 60th position.
He won his first PGA Tour title in the same year at the Las Vegas Invitational, now known as the Shriners Children’s Open. He defeated Davis Love III in a playoff.
