Golf is a very demanding sport, mentally as well as physically. And for those who have never played the sport, it is easy to underestimate the requirements; it is assuredly not true. So much so that Brooks Koepka, currently one of the best golfers in the world, has called out the disappointment that is inevitable if you play the sport.

Brooks Koepka, an American golfer on the PGA Tour, is one of the leading golfers in the world. He has 4 major wins and has topped the OWGR rankings for a staggering 47 weeks. A power hitter, he is one of the most well-built golfers, and accompanying that is stunning mental strength and the ability to give in his best until the very end.

Nevertheless, he once said, “Golf is full of disappointment. If you win 5% of your tournaments you’re a Hall of Famer, so plenty of disappointment in golf. Get used to it.” And the truth of this statement is irrefutable. With around 45 events on the PGA Tour, with more than 120 players competing in each over a course of 4 days, you can’t always win. More so, even the best of the best golfers count it a successful year with two or three wins out of the lot.

Brooks chose golf at a very young age. However, on multiple occasions, the current 31-year-old has admitted that he regrets the choices he made in his formative years. What turned into a very controversial statement at the time, he once expressed, “If I could do it over again, I’d play baseball—100 percent, no doubt… To be honest, I’m not a big golf nerd… golf is kind of boring, not much action. I come from a baseball family, and it’s in my blood.”

Meanwhile, we can’t help but agree with his last statement. He comes from a family with roots deep in athletics and sports, particularly baseball. Dick Groat, a legendary major league baseball player, and avid basketball player is his great uncle, who he has admitted he massively looks up to.
