John Daly has an old habit of doing what his heart says. Be it drinking numerous cans of diet coke on the field, or heading straight to the casino after his match, the golfer doesn’t care about what the world thinks. Although he has always been honest about his habits, there is no stopping Daly from following his gut. And he once revealed how he came up with his own conditions before signing contracts with brands and sponsors.

John Daly disclosed his terms before signing a contract

Daly has a way of doing things differently from the people around him. His colorful pants have been the talk of the town since the beginning of his professional career. And his love for beer and cigarettes is highly understood by his fans. A similar way of looking at things differently for the golfer is when he signs new contracts.

‘Long John’ once revealed one of the most important things he keeps in mind before signing a contract with a new sponsor. “I’ve learned now that if somebody wants to tell me to do something, and that’s gonna be in the contract, then I don’t sign the contract,” Daly said“I’ve learned to not take the money and be miserable.”. It is not surprising as Daly has had a record of doing things his way despite the terms of his contracts.

One of Daly’s sponsors, Hippo, mentioned that the golfer’s paperwork included a clause expecting him to show “good behavior”. But at the same time, It didn’t require Daly to follow the terms as strictly as Callaway. And that led Daly to get out of his deal with the sponsor since he had no intentions of complying with the strict behavioral rules.

John Daly once expressed his views about the ongoing controversy between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. His statements are generally straightforward and fearless. But in one of his interviews, he chose to remain diplomatic when it came to the PGA vs LIV Golf rivalry.

But later, he confessed that he “begged” Greg Norman to let him join LIV Golf. However, the “shark” rejected Daly’s request to join the Saudi circuit. Daly currently remains on the PGA Tour and recently made an appearance at the Sanford International Championship. He has also been battling with cancer for the past 2 years and his journey has been nothing short of inspirational.
