The unfortunate fate of Charlie Woods strikes again! The 15-year-old entered the Future Masters recently for the 15–18 age category. Inclement weather reduced the tournament to just 36 holes, and the winners were announced based on two rounds. Woods Jr. shot two rounds of 73, and 76, and was tied for the 103rd spot. Ben Shedd won the event, and Brantley Moore was the runner-up.

It might be a heartbreak for him, adding another setback after failing to pass the qualifiers for both the Cognizant Classic and the US Open. Following this performance at the Future Masters, where is Woods Jr.’s next stop? Interestingly, he won’t be away from the greens for long.

Woods Jr. is expected to return for the US Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills. He qualified for this USGA event in June at Eagle Trace Golf Club by finishing with a 1-under 71 in the qualifiers. Reflecting on his performance, the 15-year-old said, “I didn’t play great my first two holes, but I played really well for the last 16. I just told myself not to make any more bogeys or doubles and took advantage of some nice birdie looks when I had them.” 

The US Junior Amateur will commence from July 22–28 at Oakland Hills in the suburbs of Detroit. Before entering the 64 players’ match play, Charlie Woods will have to go through 36 holes of stroke play on the North and South courses at Oakland Hills to confirm a spot for further play. His father, Tiger Woods, was 14 when he qualified for his first US junior; meanwhile, Woods Jr. is 15, around the same age as his father.

Woods Jr.’s ranking improved significantly when he qualified for his USGA debut. He moved up to 38th in the Class of 2027 per TUGR Junior Rankings which marked the highest rank of his junior career in every category. While he might be excited to play at Oakland Hills, after that, will he get rest for the rest of the year? Probably not!

Where will Charlie Woods play after July?

The US Junior Amateur is in the last week of July. After the tournament concludes, Charlie Woods might appear on the greens of Old Palm GC to play at the South Florida PGA Jr. Cup. In the tournament, he finished 10th with a score of 68-75-76. Following this, you might see him at the SFPGA Labor Day Classic in the first week of September.

Lastly, Charlie Woods might conclude his year with an appearance in the SFPGA Tour Championship at The Park West Palm, where he achieved his best finish last year, scoring 69-73-142 to tie for 5th place. For now, there are no reports of any other tournaments in which Woods Jr. might compete.
