The ascent of a young English golf prodigy named Kris Kim has captured the attention of the whole golf world. Kris made his PGA Tour debut in the prestigious CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament at the age of sixteen, tying with Jordan Spieth in the opening round. Spieth made his CJ Cup debut in 2010, also at the age of sixteen.

One unanswered question remains, as this gifted teen makes waves in the golfing world. Where does this young golfing superstar go to school?

Kris Kim attends the esteemed Epsom College, which is well-known for its outstanding athletic and academic offerings. The college’s cutting-edge facilities include an on-campus golf course where aspiring players like Kris may polish their talents, and the school demonstrates its commitment to developing young people.

Epsom College has a long tradition of turning forth outstanding athletes, with a focus on golf in particular. The distinguished alumni list of the college, which includes multiple professional golfers like Ross McGowan who have achieved success on the global scene, is a testament to the college’s commitment to the sport.

Epsom College is extremely proud of its athletic accomplishments, but it is unwavering in its dedication to academic excellence. Kris Kim and other students are guaranteed a well-rounded education by the demanding curriculum of the university, preparing them for success both on and off the golf course.

A balanced approach to education and sport

According to Kris Kim, he attends classes at school from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day. Most of his weekends are spent on the golf course where he’ll spend up to eight hours a day practicing the sport he loves. “He’s maintaining good grades in school. The family is encouraging him. The whole team is encouraging him,” said James Byers, CEO of Trinifold Sports, Kris’s representation agency.

Kris Kim has his exams scheduled right after the CJ Cup and has to prepare for them on the plane back from Texas to London. Kris Kim has plans to do well in his academics, but his true love is golf. His mother Ji-Hyun Suh, who has been his only swing coach, introduced him to the sport when he was five years old, and he “ended up falling in love with it.”

Even though he loves the sport, the nerves end up getting to him. It’s not easy to play in a field of pros and Major winners. “First couple holes, the nerves were definitely there,” said Kim. But having his mother teach him the ropes definitely helped. “I think what’s refreshing about the whole thing is, because his mom has been through the LPGA, there’s a sense of calmness about the whole situation,” says James Byers.

Beyond the classroom, Epsom College instills in its students the ideals of discipline, time management, and perseverance, qualities that have surely played a significant role in Kris Kim’s incredible accomplishments at such a young age.
