Remember Anthony Kim? The golfer who once made waves as a PGA Tour player, winning three tournaments in just 11 starts. He was the rising star everyone expected to dominate and even called him the next Tiger Woods. And then he vanished. For over a decade, Kim disappeared from the golf world, slipping into a sort of hibernation, far from the greens and spotlight.

But when he finally returned, things got interesting. Instead of rejoining the PGA Tour, Kim joined hands with the controversial LIV Golf. He signed on as a wildcard for the 2024 season alongside Hudson Swafford, sparking curiosity and plenty of questions. Would he stick around for 2025? While details on that remain in the realm of speculation, sources have confirmed that Kim’s return is part of a longer-term deal.

He last teed up in Chicago in September and finished at the 42nd spot. Now, after a hiatus of more than two months, Kim competing again, but this time it’s in the Asian Tour’s International Series Qatar from November 27 to 30. As the race for the Asian Tour Order of Merit levels up, Kim will tee it up again at Doha Golf Club alongside 17 other LIV golfers from the 2024 season for $2.5 million.

As Kim’s future remains hanging, his appearance at the Asian Tour comes as an opportunity to revive back. This isn’t the first time Kim is teeing up at the Asian Tour, as just weeks after ending his lengthy absence from the game in February, he competed in the International Series Macau—where he struggled, missing the cut by eight strokes after shooting rounds of 74 and 70. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the triumphant return fans had hoped for.

That Macau start was his third outing of the season, following his LIV debut in Jeddah and another appearance at LIV Golf Hong Kong. The results may not have been spectacular, but for Kim, just being back in the game is part of the journey.

Will Kim get to play in LIV Golf next season?

Just a few weeks ago, Sports Illustrated reported that Anthony Kim is expected to return to the LIV Golf. But the bigger question remains: What will his standing be on the 2025 LIV roster?

Kim made his comeback in March at LIV Jeddah, competing in 11 events since, but it wasn’t exactly a smooth return. He didn’t score a single point in the season-long standings, finishing pretty log in the standings. Still, he avoided relegation, thanks to his wildcard status.

But how long can that wildcard status protect him? According to LIV insiders, Kim could return next season as a solo wildcard. There’s even talk of a potential “wildcard team” being assembled to compete alongside the 13 established franchises. If that happens, the 39-year-old may find himself eligible to stay in the mix.

So you see, there are still opportunities for Kim; all he has to do now is buckle up and deliver the kind of comeback that reminds the world why he once made waves in the first place.
