Fans will see golfers like Richard Sterne, Alex Fitzpatrick, Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, Sungjae Im, and Si Woo Kim compete for the title. An Byeong-hun will be defending the title in 2025 after he won in a playoff against fellow South Korean Tom Kim. An Byeong-hun birdied the par-5 18th hole to secure victory, while Tom Kim missed his par putt on the first extra hole, leading to An’s win. However, that was played on the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course, and this time, it is Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.

Woo Jeong Hills Country Club design and layout
Located about 90 minutes from Seoul, Woo Jeong Hills was established in 1993. Perry Dye designed the course. The course is known for its challenging yet visually stunning Western-style layout. In fact, some media agencies and golf enthusiasts claim that it is as close to a Western-style course as one can find in Asia. The course recently underwent a major greens renovation by Dye Designs Group to update size, contouring, and drainage.
12 distinct ponds feature throughout the property. Together, they impact 16 holes. Its signature hole is probably the 13th. The par-3 13th hole has a renowned island green, demanding precision and nerve from professionals and amateurs alike. It features a hilly terrain. The course has undulating fairways, elevation changes, and deep bunkers, which are typical of Dye family designs.

The slope around the 18th green forms a grass-clad amphitheater. One of the reasons why Woo Jeong Hills has hosted many national and international events is this amphitheater. It allows large numbers of spectators to gather with clear views, making it suitable for major tournament crowds. The course plays as a par 72, ranging from 4,428 meters to 6,607 meters.

For over two decades, Woo Jeong Hills hosted the Kolon Korea Open (from 2003 to 2024), one of Asia’s most respected tournaments. The course has witnessed some of the biggest names in golf, including John Daly, Vijay Singh, and Rickie Fowler, all of whom lifted trophies here. Rory McIlroy also came close to victory twice, finishing as runner-up. This strong legacy makes the venue a fitting stage for the Genesis Championship’s next chapter.
The Genesis Championship 2025 carries a $4 million purse and is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and KPGA Tour. It serves as the final event on the DP World Tour’s regular schedule before the playoffs. Players will be competing not just for the title but also to secure their playing privileges and climb into the top 70 of the Race to Dubai rankings.
