The season-end awards are something that the entire golfing community looks forward to. Like every other year in 2023, several players are vying for season-ending awards. Out of all the awards, the most prestigious one is the Rolex Player Of The Year Award. The top contenders for this award are the American star Lilia Vu, who is a two-time major winner. However, currently surpassing her is a French golfer Celine Boutier. The French golfer has a three-point lead over Vu and how the coming days shape up the leaderboard will be thrilling.

The Player of the Year award, despite recognising the most phenomenal player of the current year, guarantees no success in the coming future. Former winner of the Player of the Year award, Lydia Ko is struggling to participate in events, let alone win them.

A Precarious Path to the CME Group Tour Championship For Lydia Ko

The law of gravity applies to success as well. The same is true in the game of golf. A prominent LPGA golfer who secured three wins in the year 2022 has encountered a challenging year in 2023.

Lydia Ko is struggling with her game this season, sitting at 93rd position on the LPGA tour CME points list. Consequent to doing this she had to be at the mercy of sponsors’ exemption to defend her title at the BMW ladies championship in October.

However, the real challenge comes with the CME group tour championship, where only the top 60 players can be accommodated. She has had an exceptionally rough year filled with inconsistencies. The former BMW ladies championship winner only had one top-30 finish in 15 events, out of which she missed the cut for four.

All the odds are against Lydia Ko and the chances of her participating in the tour championship remain slim to none. She currently has two tournaments left and to make it to the championship she needs to win both which given her current form seems unlikely.
