The Zozo Championship is one of the most prestigious events on the PGA Tour, featuring some of the best players in the world competing for a share of the $11 million purse and valuable FedExCup points. 

The tournament, which is held at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Japan, is also known for its challenging layout and demanding conditions. The course, which measures 7,041 yards and plays to a par of 70, requires accuracy, strategy, and creativity from the players.

Sungjae Im’s Magical MacGreor

But while most of the players are busy honing their game with their usual equipment, one player has a secret weapon in his bag that gives him an edge over his competitors. That player was Sungjae Im, the South Korean sensation who won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and has been a consistent performer on the PGA Tour.

Im, used a version of a putter that was blessed by none other than Jack Nicklaus, the legendary golfer who won 18 major championships and six Masters titles. The video shows him with the MacGregor Response ZT 615 putter that Nicklaus used to win the 1986 Masters at age 46. 

The putter, which is an oversized blade made of aluminum, was painted black and loaded with lead tape by Nicklaus to suit his preference. It was also one of the biggest putters at the time, and its design was so unique that it was used to set the maximum width for putter conformity by the USGA.

In Jack’s Grip: Im’s Quest for PGA Tour Immortality

The PGA Tour pro, Sungjae Im is one of the favorites for this championship as he is making his fourth appearance at the Zozo Championship, where he has shown some impressive results in the past. 

Im will hope to continue his journey in the tournament with a strong start and a consistent performance throughout the four rounds. He’ll also aim to capture his third PGA Tour title and his first since March 2020 as he showed that he has the talent and the potential to compete with the best in the world, and he will try to prove it once again.

Im is proving that sometimes, all you need is a good putter and a good attitude to win on the PGA Tour. And if that putter happens to be blessed by Jack Nicklaus, then you may have an even better chance of winning.
