2024 will be the year of fresh changes and revolutions in the golf world. A set of Scottish reforms is catching the attention of many, including Donald Trump. The country is looking forward to land reforms that will affect the golf scenario.

The former President of the United States, Donald Trump, has various golf properties around the world. Among them is the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, a port city in northeast Scotland. Scottish Labour politician Mercedes Villalba wants the newest Land Reform Bill to have land over 500 hectares become community land or be broken into parts if it does not pass the “public interest test”.

Such a policy could put the Trump Scottish golf course in jeopardy. After all, his golf course is spaced over 560 hectares and is a traditional 18-hole course. But it seems luck is on Trump’s side this time.

As per the DailyRecord UK, the Scottish government is proposing to apply the reform on lands over 3000 hectares, which is significantly larger than Trump’s golf course in Scotland. The decision was met with disapproval by Villabla as he commented on the matter and stated, “The Scottish Government’s proposals for land reform are far too timid and will have little impact.”

The politician went on to highlight Trump’s golf course in his argument and mentioned how the said proposal is applicable over lands that are “almost six times the size of Trump International.” The other limit for land expansion is 1000 hectares, which again spares the International Golf Links Aberdeen from the clutches of the proposed land reform bill.
