Taking a detour of India this week the Ladies European Tour is hosting its Asian flagship, the Hero Women’s Indian Open. this is the 15th edition of the event and the match has already kicked off on Thursday.

The players appearing at the tournament are amateur Vidhatri Urs, Nishtha Madan, Khushi Khanijau, Madelene Stavnar, 2019’s winner Christine Wolf, and many others. And the second-round leader is a German Rookie who grabbed the lead and is full of confidence.

German Rookie player grabs the lead at round two of Hero Women’s Indian Open

The Hero Women’s Indian Open is being held at DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurugram, where it has been hosted multiple times. The prize purse is $400,000 and to win the first prize the fight is tough. The field is a mix of Indian and foreign players of European and American players. After the first round yesterday today the lead was taken by German Rookie player Aline Krauter who carded a round of 4 under 68.

However, her good run was a little eclipsed by India’s Vani Kapoor who followed close to her German counterpart, made 70, and grabbed the second spot. Speaking about her round at the presser Krauter said, “My ball striking was really good today. This helps around this course. I left a lot out there around the greens, but I feel like that’s every golf round.”

 She continued, “I put myself in great positions and had a lot of birdie chances. I didn’t convert as many as I would have liked, or could have, but it was still a great round.”

The Hero Open is the only LET tournament that is hosted in India. Aside from the Americans and Europeans, this is a great opportunity for the Indian golfers to show off their skills.

Indian golfers giving excellent performances at the Hero Open

Four Indian golfers are currently in the top 7 position on the leaderboard while six other Indians have made the cut in the second round. Local golfer Gaurika Bishnoi carded 69 to be Tied seventh with amateur Avani Prashanth (71-70) at 3-under.

Last year’s runner-up Amandeep Drall made the cut with a birdie on her final hole. 

The famous Diksha Dagar attempted to move to the top of the Race to Costa Del Sol standings. Second on the board, Vani made six birdies to achieve the spot. She said “It’s so nice to play at your home course. It’s a brilliant feeling [and] really a different feeling.” The final round will be held on Sunday.
