What was Tiger Woods’ worst score as a professional golfer?

Woods has been honest about everything he says to his fans. The golf legend once opened up about the time when he hit the highest score ever in his career as a golfer. It was at Muirfield Village Golf Club, Ohio which was founded by Woods’ old pal and inspiration, Jack Nicklaus.

Woods recorded 5 victories there, but also played his worst round on the same field. “I didn’t want to have anyone watch me play the way I was playing,” the golfer said. And the highest score of his career that he recorded there was 85 at the 2015 Memorial tournament.

But the stain in his spotless career came during another tournament on the same course. During the tournament, Woods reached a score of 2 over par after crossing 7 holes. And it didn’t end there. The golfer continued to end up playing the next 11 holes 11-over. As a surprise for his opponent Zac Blair, who was a rookie, Woods was playing far below his expectations. “It was the coolest round of golf in my life”, Blair said after Woods lost to him by 15 strokes. But, Woods was highly disappointed with his performance

“Unfortunately, that’s all I had,” Woods said. “I take pride in throughout the years of never bagging it. I’ve tried in every single round to fight to the end.” Well, that is something Woods has always stood by – playing till the very end. Despite his worst performance, Woods played throughout the tournament and didn’t give up. However, he didn’t feel very good about how things turned out in the end. “It didn’t feel very good. But it is what it is. I tried and, unfortunately on this golf course, hitting it as bad as I did it just wasn’t good enough.” he said.

What was Woods going through during the time?

Although the golfer didn’t talk about the reasons behind his bad performance, his caddie opened up about what Woods was going through. Joe LaCava, who caddied for Tiger Woods for a long time explained the golfer’s situation. “I don’t remember much of the round. Clearly we know now he was hurting back then,” he said“He had a lot of troubles, but I know I can tell you that he was trying hard.”

LaCava was referring to the back pain and spine injuries that the golfer was suffering from during the tournament. However, Woods didn’t give any excuses or reasons for his embarrassing performance at the event.
