Phil Mickelson is currently one of the most controversial players in the golf community. The six-time major winner has tons of records under his name. Mickelson is a former PGA Tour player who recently started playing in the LIV Golf Invitational Series.

Like Phil Mickelson, many other players also joined the Saudi-backed league, leaving their PGA careers behind. Some players called it a business decision, while others said they wanted to play less golf. However, “Lefty” was one of the initial players to join the LIV Tour. The golfer’s shots have been getting fan reactions all over the internet.

Fans react to Phil Mickelson in Round 2 of LIV Golf

A short clip of Mickelson hitting a shot at Portland in the second round of the LIV Tour is going viral on Twitter. Fans from around the world are giving all kinds of reactions to the video. But most of them aren’t supportive or positive:

Mickelson’s trick shot got the ball very close to the hole. But all that the fans had to say were taunts and statements about the player’s decision of betraying the PGA Tour and playing in this “exhibition of golf”. Although a couple of fans also appreciated the shot, but they were eventually bombarded by a barrage of questions by other viewers in the comments section.

It looks like Phil Mickelson has lost a chunk of his fans after he switched to LIV Golf. People used to love watching his game, especially in the Major Championships. But now, it is not clear if he still has the same amount of fans left to support him.

Mickelson remains the “smiling” face of the LIV Tour

While Mickelson was approaching the tee box on Thursday for his first shot, a person outside the rope asked him: “How you doing, Phil?”. “Awesome” Lefty replied. Mickelson kept smiling throughout his round and accompanied that smile with his trademark thumbs-up sign. He remained the same on Friday even after a 75 for the second time consecutively, tied for 36th.
