A veteran in the golf world, Brendon Todd has more than 15 years under his pro cap. Boasting a total of seven wins in his professional career, including three victories on the PGA Tour, he has managed to display his skills many times on the course. However, the last of his wins came in 2019, four years ago. But now, it seems as if his dry spell is coming to an end, all thanks to a certain someone.

The professional had been slowly building up his performance through the years. But it needed the help of his new on-course partner, none other than his newly employed caddie, to push him to the brink of victory at the 2024 Sentry!

After scripting notable wins at notable events like the Mayakoba Golf Classic and the Bermuda Championship in 2019, the golfer was unable to clinch any more victories. However, he decided to employ Paul Tesori as his looper for the first signature event of 2024, which seems to make all the difference as he was able to finish at T2 after the first two days at 15-under 132.

The 38-year-old had earlier partnered up with David Clark last year during the John Deere Classic in September, following which the pair had a really “strong” year. However, Ian Poulter employing Clark led to Todd turning to Tesori on the greens, a “great opportunity” that the golfer was able to grasp. Why dub it a “great opportunity,” you ask? Well, it’s all owing to the amazing experience that the Florida native boasts on the greens.

Paul Tesori’s career before Brendon Todd

Born to Albert P. “Al” and Nangela J. “Nangi” Tesori Jr., the current looper was once a professional on the PGA Tour. Although he wasn’t able to grasp any wins as a golfer, he managed to lead many athletes to their trophies, numbering a total of 20 wins as a caddie on the PGA Tour. Moreover, he carried the bags for many athletes, including the likes of Webb Simpson, Cameron Young, Vijay Singh, and others, the last of whom he was with back when Singh was the world No. 1.

The partnership between Simpson and Tesori lasted a fruitful 12 years, propelling them from No. 218 to 5th on the OWGR. Moreover, the 38-year-old was able to rake in all of his seven wins on the PGA Tour, including the major victory at the 2012 U.S. Open, with him on the bag. Following an “emotional” split with the golfer, he teamed up with the 2022 Rookie of the Year, Young, in March 2023.

The 26-year-old was able to finish as a runner-up in the WGC-Match Play and a T7 at the Masters Tournament in Augusta. But even so, a second-half flump last season led him to change his direction in 2024, leading him to split with Tesori, who was later signed by the current golfer.

Todd himself was all praise for the looper as he said, “I’m really lucky to have Paul Tesori on my bag; he’s definitely one of the best caddies out here,” alluding to the professionalism and preparedness he exhibits on the course. However, if you think the bagman’s head is only filled with thoughts of the sport, you’re sorely wrong! He’s a hero off the greens as well.

Tesori extending a hand to moral causes

The caddie and his family founded the Tesori Family Foundation in 2009 to help the needy living in the Northeast Florida community. However, with the birth of Isaiah, their special baby who was diagnosed with Down syndrome, the benefits provided by the foundation expanded to include children with special needs from all over the United States.

Moreover, the family also decided to support many charities throughout the year by focusing on homeless children, shelters, and kids suffering from diseases, along with extending a hand to animal rescue programs. Aimed at making a positive change in people’s lives through faith, the foundation follows the motto of “one child at a time.” A truly inspiring initiative by the professional caddie.

One can’t help but respect the looper for the amount of dedication and hard work he has put in on and off the course. Moreover, the results he has exhibited with the group of golfers, especially his recent partner Brendon Todd, put him as one of the best loopers on the men’s circuit. One thing is for sure: The Todd-Tesori duo will surely see more success in the future.
