The 27-year-old missed only 4 cuts across 23 starts in the DPWT. Moreover, a close call at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, finishing 14-under at 2nd, proved Hillier’s ability to perform even under a high-stakes environment. Finding himself in the media spotlight, Hillier has often credited his family, including his sister, who caddied for him, as his support system. However, another figure who has played an equally profound role in his career is none other than his girlfriend. Often supporting him behind the blinds and beyond the greens, Hillier’s fiancée makes the journey worth it for the NZ golfer.

Siobhan Weaver’s support in Daniel Hillier’s golfing career
As much as Siobhan Weaver supported Hillier in their quiet moments together, she has also bolstered his game. From the highs of victories to the lows of disappointing finishes, Weaver has seen it all. In fact, Weaver has caddied for Hillier on multiple occasions, including at the DP World Tour events and the Challenge Tour. She helped bring his first Challenge Tour victory at the 2021 Challenge Costa Brava, providing him with practical support and emotional encouragement.
Weaver first supported Hillier’s bag in Italy, where she learnt caddying “on the job.” Ever since, Weaver went on to become his caddie in numerous other events, including on the Charles Tour at Muriwai and at Pegasus in October 2020. Hillier’s girlfriend even visited him for the Open in 2021, which soon turned into an on-course partnership. “Daniel is a good golfer, so I didn’t need to tell him his yardages or what club to hit. He knows what to do. Just having that support and someone to take the weight of his bag helped him. Throughout the season, I learnt and I grew as a caddie. I even got to caddie on the main tour, which was a highlight for me,” Weaver shared about her caddying experiences.
When Hillier hit a rough patch in 2022, Weaver didn’t leave his side. She supported him, helping him navigate the slump in his game. As a matter of fact, Weaver’s influence was reflected at the 2023 Betfred British Masters, where Hillier claimed his maiden DP World Tour triumph. The NZ’s rising sensation carded a 10-under, with his best round coming on Sunday at 6-under.

Reflecting on his struggles in 2022, Hillier explained, “I was lucky during that period that (girlfriend) Siobhan decided to come over for a few weeks and she helped me get through that. The thing with golf is you are never going to play well all the time. It was probably the first time I have had an extended period where I wasn’t playing how I wanted. I was probably mentally fatigued.”
With time, the couple’s bond has only grown stronger through the tests of career dips and meaningful support for each other. Even beyond the courses, the couple continues to flaunt their sweet relationship.
