Tiger Woods‘s family has come under the spotlight again! This time, it’s all thanks to Charlie Woods, who attempted to make his foray into the big leagues as he participated in the pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic. As he made this step, though, Woods Sr. wasn’t there alongside him, likely still recovering from influenza. However, he wasn’t alone.

Just as she’s been there for him since Day 1 – whether to accompany him to soccer practices or support him at the PNC – Elin Nordegren made a gracious appearance in Florida for Charlie. Since 2001, golf has been a constant in Nordegren’s life. Apart from establishing herself as a model, she also became a well-known personality in the golf community owing to her relationship with Tiger Woods. But while we know about the Woods side of her family, the family she grew up with isn’t as widely known. Even less is known about her twin sister!

Elin Nordegren’s “best friend” who’s had her back all her life

Elin was born in Stockholm on January 1, 1980, to Thomas Nordegren and Barbro Holmberg. However, also born on the same day was her identical twin sister, Josefin Nordegren. They also have an older brother named Axel Nordegren. But since childhood, the twin sisters have been inseparable, closer to each other than anyone else.

Remember how Elin Nordegren was introduced to Tiger Woods in 2001? She was nannying for Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik, who made Nordegren and Woods meet each other. But what is a lesser-known fact is that Josefin was working right alongside Elin. She’s now a lawyer in London, married to Daniel Lönnborg. Per a 2013 sighting, Josefin and Daniel have one child together.

Nordegren’s parents separated in 1987 when the twins were seven years old. The siblings spent an equal amount of time with both their parents growing up. One thing they instilled in Elin in Josefin was to have their own identities. While it isn’t uncommon for twins to dress like each other and have similar character traits, that was something their parents didn’t want for their daughters.

Talking to the People, Elin revealed, “They rarely dressed us in the same clothes, and if they did, I always wore red and my sister always wore blue, so no one would say the wrong name.” She continued, “Everybody knew that red equals Elin and blue equals Josefin. They cut our hair differently and put my sister and me in different classes.”

Looking back at it, the former model appreciates what her parents did and why they did it. She said, “My sister has been my best friend since the day we were born, and she is more than a best friend today.” Her statement holds true to this very day.

The Nordegren sisters are each other’s support pillars

It is no new information that Woods and Nordegren have been separated since 2010. However, after the publicized divorce, Elin Nordegren was going through a tough time, distancing herself from everyone. She became quiet and distant, nothing like she used to be before the divorce. At a time when she decided to focus only on herself – preparing for a triathlon – it was Josefin and her parents who supported her. Needless to say, she’s had the unwavering support of her identical twin sister.

The two have had each other back since their childhood. Long before nannying for Parnevik, they worked as cashiers in supermarkets to finance their studies. They’ve stuck by each other through thick and thin. Even after the divorce from Woods, the two sisters were spotted together multiple times, showing their “best friend” bond.

Back in 2013, a 7-year-old Sam Woods had a soccer match, and Elin briefly became the team’s coach. At least, she was spotted wearing a jersey that had “COACH” written on it. With Charlie Woods in her arms, Elin was also accompanied by her sister, who brought her child to the game as well. Whether it was to help her coach the team or just be there for moral support, Josefin Nordegren ensured she was there for her sister, just like all the other times she has been.

Thanks to this support from her sister, Elin Nordegren found love again. She is happily living with her boyfriend, former NFL star Jordan Cameron. She has two sons with him.
