James Tyree Poston, fondly known around the golfing world as J.T. Poston, is a rising star on the PGA Tour. The former Wyndham Championship winner has made it into the top 10 of many golf tournaments over the years. However, for all these accomplishments, he had help and support. Let’s take a look at the one such man behind the dynamo who accompanies him, helps him, carries his bag, and provides emotional support on the greens.

The American golfer from North Carolina turned Pro in 2015 and received his PGA Tour card in 2017. Shortly after that, he met his man behind the scenes, his caddie, Aaron Flener, who has been by his side ever since.

J.T. Poston’s caddie Aaron Flener is a seasoned man of the links. He has been on the golf course since he started playing the sport at TK High School in Kentucky, at the behest of Kenny Perry. Following his high school golfing stint, the professional caddie got into college golf and performed quite well between 2001 and 2004. However, after his college years, he found his love in golf not swinging on the course but rather in the cart. Although he’s never revealed his reasons, it certainly seems like Flener is more than happy with his choice.

Flener began his career in golf as a caddie alongside Kent Bulle, who also hails from Kentucky. Shortly after, he started accompanying German golfer Stephen Jaeger, and they spent quite some time on the links together. Eventually, the looper landed a gig with J.T. Poston. The exact date when the duo partnered up is uncertain, but the timeframe was in early May of 2018, after the golf pro received his PGA Tour card.

The golfer and his caddie may not have had a tremendous number of wins yet, but they certainly have accomplished a lot. While J.T. Poston gradually found recognition on the Tour and received new endorsements, the caddie wasn’t left behind either. Aaron Flener, along with Will Zalatoris’s caddie Joel Stock, Joel Dahmen’s caddie Geno Bonnalie, and Keith Mitchell’s caddie John Limanti, signed an endorsement deal of their own with the undergarments brand Saxx. The sponsorship deal with Saxx not only benefits the men carrying their golf bags, but its proceeds also benefit charity.

Flener’s Perspective on Caddying

The Caddie Network is a popular social media channel where hosts help caddies share their incredible stories. J.T. Poston’s seasoned caddie, too, on the channel, in their Under the Strap’ segment, shared a few words about how caddying wasn’t all that simple and answered some questions before he and Poston took to the course at the 2023 Tournament of Champions.

When the host asked Flener about the steep slopes of the Kapalua course and whether they could actually take carts up there, he admitted that the caddies could do so, but only “practice rounds.” The looper further added that during the competitive rounds of the event they had to walk the course, and that could be troublesome.

Describing it as a “rude awakening,” he stated that it was a reminder of his lack of exercise. He timidly also added that he was trying to lose weight before the event to be able to be up for the challenge. Yet despite all those challenges, Flener certainly seems happy about his chosen role in the sport!

Away from the course, Flener is a family man

Aaron Flener is a very jovial person with a love for life. Growing up, his adoring family played a major role in crafting his outlook on life. With two brothers sharing his parents’ love, Flener found himself relishing his family. He often shares delightful posts of their family vacations or heartily shares felicitations on special days, especially for his mother.

Be it sharing posts online of the time before his youngest brother Brett Flener was born to commemorate Mother’s Day or pictures of his extended family celebrating Father’s Day, Flener is undoubtedly a devoted family man. His social media reflects that, with his Instagram constantly flooded with loopers relatives faces in posts.

Moreover, Aaron Flener is not only close to his parents and brothers but also enjoys a heartwarming relationship with his nieces. He often shares their time together, wrestling, playing, and generally having fun. He also spoke of meeting the new puppy that joined the beautiful family, and he shared a hearty time with them all.

The Flener family is quite invested in the sport of golf, and Aaron Flener often shares photos of their family outing on the golf course on his official account. It may have also been one of the reasons he wanted a life on the links, even if he wasn’t swinging his clubs at Major tournaments.

Is Aaron Flener in a relationship?

The seasoned caddie is undoubtedly a catch. He is, in fact, dating a very special someone with whom he shares precious moments. Aub Schilder, who is a comedian and the founder of the marketing agency LetsxCollab, has been beside the jovial caddie for some time. The exact date of when the couple first got together remains a mystery; however, Schilder did share a precious moment of an outing together at Nissan Stadium back in May 2022.
