Jake Knapp shot an amazing 12-under 59 in the first round of the 2025 Cognizant Classic. He has achieved one of the most remarkable goals of his career as a professional golfer. And there was only one person he wanted to embrace once he got off the 18th green, Makena White. Do you not know who that is? If you have seen Knapp play often, then you must have seen one of his biggest fans cheering him on from behind the ropes. But White is not just a fan of Knapp.

The PGA Tour pro is certainly in a committed relationship with Golf. And his girlfriend, Makena White. In case you didn’t know, the couple has been together for the last couple of years. It’s not clear when exactly they started dating each other. However, as per the Daily Mail, it was likely after 2021 that the couple were first seen together. However, both White and Knapp have been tight-lipped about their relationship timeline.

What we do know is that White is from Canada, and she loves sports. At least that is what her social media profile describes her as. Apparently, she was also born in a petri dish or is a ‘test tube’ baby, depending on which version you prefer. Basically, she was conceived via IVF. Although there is no confirmation of when exactly she was born, she is proud that her parents tried so hard to bring her into this world.

She attended St. Joseph High School in Ottawa. As per her LinkedIn profile, Makena was the Athletic Council president during her senior year. Her role was to promote the school’s sports team and help with fundraising. Her latest role is that of a Representative for LeMaitre. She has been in this position since October 2021 and it seems that she has been enjoying working in the company.

Coming back to White’s hobbies, to this day, she continues to showcase her love for sports. Especially for her home Ottawa Senators (LPGA Pro Brooke Henderson is an ambassador of the team). In 2022, Makena posted an image of her wearing the Senator’s hat with ‘Zab’ – a nod to Artem Zab – etched on it. 

She also shares Knapp’s passion for golf. People.com quoted a now-deleted tweet to report that White used to tee up often as a kid. But in college, she got sidetracked before picking up the game again in 2021. She bought a new set. 

Makena White, by no means, is a professional golfer. Or an athlete. After graduating from St. Joseph’s, White attended McMaster University in Hamilton. Knapp is a UCLA graduate of 2015, by the way. White, meanwhile, graduated in 2019 after studying communications and software engineering. 

That, however, doesn’t mean she never pays a visit to Knapp’s tournaments. Very much the opposite; she has been there a couple of times. Twice, she was fortunate enough to catch Knapp’s brilliance on the course.

Jake Knapp was working as a bouncer before joining the PGA Tour last year. In his rookie year, the 30-year-old lifted his first silverware. At the Mexico Open, Knapp cruised to a two-stroke victory, with White in attendance. The PGA Tour later posted a clip of her watching the final putt. 

“This would be so sweet,” White told one of her friends. But the final putt stopped inches short of the hole. “So dramatic,” she laughed. But Knapp steadied his nerve and wrapped up the round. White joined her boyfriend to celebrate. They hugged and kissed. 

A year later, White was there at PGA National, watching her boyfriend flirt with sub-60. Knapp did card 59, and White was totally amazed at the feat. “So proud of you,” White could be heard saying in the video posted by the PGA Tour. Later, she shared another picture with Knapp on her Instagram, captioning, “That’s Mr.59 to you.”

It should be noted that Makena White was also with her boyfriend at the PLAYERS and the Masters last year. She shared some snippets from the practice round and the tournament. In fact, she got her family to wear t-shirts with the now-famous phrase, ‘Knapp Time.’ It’s not clear if they are engaged or not, but by the looks of it, a wedding ring doesn’t seem too far away.

Speaking of her own social media presence, White is quite active on both Instagram and X. She often shares hilarious and interesting episodes of her life via tweets and shares glimpses from them on Instagram. Over time, Makena has gathered quite a fan following with over 9,000 on X and 12,000 on Instagram.
