Ludvig Aberg, a rising star in the golf world, was able to register his first win on the DP World Tour with a victory coming off the 2023 Omega European Masters after turning professional a few months back in June. Aberg made a top-notch decision when he employed Jack Clarke as his looper. Clarke has been on the bag for the young athlete for most of his starts on the PGA Tour in 2023, including his best finish at the John Deere Classic where he finished T4. They went on to finish first in the European Masters with a stunning 19-under 261, taking home the winner’s cut of $453623.65.

Jack Clarke started his career on the bag on the LPGA Tour where he worked with different players including Sophia Popova, Linnea Strom, and his girlfriend Madelene Sagstrom. Clarke successfully caddied for Caroline Hedwall during her Solheim Cup appearance in 2019, in which her team won, In the 2021 Solheim Cup, he was on the bag of Sagstrom and again Team Europe emerged triumphant.

His experience in prestigious events will be a big help for Aberg since he is set to play in one of such esteemed tournaments in the coming days — the Ryder Cup later this month in Rome. Clarke’s prior caddie experience coupled with his own exposure to the game as a player is likely to help Aberg not a little.

Jack Clarke’s story as a golfer

Although the Englishman has been currently focusing on caddying for one of the most prospective young guns in the game, the looper himself had an impressive period in the sport. The bagman got roped into golf at the age of six when he got involved in morning lessons with his first golf club, Three Rivers GC.

The young golfer then went ahead to join the Chelmsford GC in early 2000 where he won his first trophy at the age of 13 at an event called the Pender Salver Trophy. The teenager was then scouted by Essex where he played through his amateur career through various age groups. He went on to captain the Under-18 team before representing the Under-21.

The amateur golfer turned professional before long. Clarke’s pro move led him to become the 2010 Essex PGA Open champion and the 2011 East Anglian PGA champion. He managed to keep his playing privileges on both the Alps Tour and Euro pro Tour for 2016 despite a bumpy 2014-15 season.

Turning to the job of assisting on the bag has been nothing short of a learning curve for Jack Clarke. Hopefully, he will be able to help Aberg win more and become a massive force to be reckoned with in the golfing world.
