After three rounds at the Cognizant Classic, the Irishman from Offaly is charting the leaderboard at the PGA National. Shane Lowry is on the way to win for the third time on the PGA Tour if the Classic win does get through. The last time he won on American soil was in 2015 at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Though the single major win can be counted as a PGA Tour victory too because the Tour sanctions it, however, that was held in Ireland away from the American continent.

So, the contention at the Champions course means a break to the eight-year-long winless spell. Through it, Lowry will be getting immense support from his admirers, particularly, one who has been by his side in all the ups and downs. How did Wendy Honner meet Shane Lowry? 

Like Shane Lowry, Wendy Honner also comes from the Land of Gaelic. Although she has a following of 24.4k on Instagram, Honner has kept her personal life quite private. Thus, the things public about her family background are not in far too much detail. It is known that Honner is from County Laois. Moreover, before meeting Lowry, she used to be a registered nurse in her county.

Furthermore, pictures from her recent trip to her home, Mount Juliet States, revealed her three close relationships. Honner has two sisters, Rachel and Hanna Honner. The name of her lovely mother is Iris, whom Honner resembles a lot. The three were recently celebrating a birthday and had a small family reunion.

Honner met Lowry more than a decade ago in 2012. The two were out for a film night and had stumbled upon each other. Retelling the story of the first meeting, Lowry told the Irish Independent, it was “a random night out,” emphasizing that it was not in Coppers [the nightclub]! Regardless of the location, the random date night was probably fun, as Lowry and Honner can be seen enjoying meeting each other. Honner once shared a throwback post on her Instagram to celebrate their wedding.

Ever since their first date together, they have been pretty much inseparable. After two years of being in a romantic relationship, Lowry popped the question to Honner on a beach in Dubai in 2014. However, the two did not tie the knot until one year and three months later, in 2016.

It was April 14th, 2016, when Honner walked down the aisle with Lowry in an intimate ceremony with a few of their family and friends in New York. The bride wore the dress by designer Stephanie Allin, it was a white A-line skirt with a cow neck bodice. Lowry once revealed, “Anyone who knows Wendy knows that she doesn’t like the limelight or anything like that… It was really all very chilled.”

That’s why the couple got married away from home in America. It has been eleven years of togetherness for Honner with Lowry and soon will marl eight years of marriage. Despite being together for a decade, the love Wendy has for her husband has grown more visibly through their closely knitted bond. Recently, she celebrated Valentine’s Day with an adorable gift to Lowry.

As Honner was away and could not celebrate the day with her husband, she sent a huge red colored balloon that had Shane inscribed on it. The surprise came as Lowry was chatting with a podcast channel and blushed when the package was delivered. He said that it was a bit weird because Honner rarely does something like this.

But for her husband, Wendy seemed content to break her character from time to time. She has been his biggest supporter and “no.1 fan” as Lowry calls her. The two share a loving relationship and also have two children.

Two years after their wedding, Honner was pregnant with her first child. In March 2017, the couple welcomed Iris Lowry, named after Honner’s mother. She had been another supporter of her father and after three years, the Lowry family grew bigger. Honner posted a low-key post on Instagram and introduced her second child, Ivy Lowry.

From time to time, Honner shares snippets from her life with Lowry on greens and with her girls. Right now, they are waiting for Lowry to tee it up at Cognizant Classic as he is accompanied by Honner at the PGA National. Will Lowry win another event with Honner inside the ropes?
