While many professionals focus solely on their on-course performance, some also take on off-course responsibilities. Among such professionals, Tyler Collet stands out for his impressive on-course performance. Despite being a professional since 2017, the golfer has had only limited appearances on the PGA Tour schedule. However, he had a notable one that left a mark on the entire golf community.

The 28-year-old, born in Cross Lanes, West Virginia, graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in the PGA Golf Management program. Tyler grew up in a golf-loving family, picking up clubs alongside his dad and older brother – a bond that sparked his competitive fire early on. His path to the pros was anything but ordinary; since his college didn’t offer varsity golf, he channeled his drive into the PGA Golf Management Program instead, which proved to be a winning move. He first swung a club around age nine, spending countless hours sharpening his game at Shawnee Park before making waves in junior tournaments throughout high school.

He has maintained his card by dividing his responsibilities on and off the course as PGA Assistant Professional at John’s Island Club. Notably, the golfer has managed to earn some accolades for his exceptional performance on the course. In 2022 and 2023, he was named South Florida PGA Player of the Year. Even in the years 2021 and 2022, the golfer participated in the PGA Championship. Though he missed the cut, he has been showcasing improvement with his finishes.

The American professional made the most appearances in 2024 with some great results. He participated in the PGA Championship for the third time. However, he missed a cut this time, too, with the barest of margins. Collet, swinging rounds of 73 and 72, fell short by one stroke at the major. Other than this, he also featured at the Puerto Rico Open, where he finished 68th with a 4-under par score.

But then, his greatest memory came from his Minor League Golf Tour. In April 2024, Collet won the Major II presented by Abacoa Golf Club, which was his first win. Along with it, he won the 2024 Monday Qualifier Contest #7, which helped him with a $1,000 boost to support his participation at the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour qualifiers.

Although he has not won any PGA events, he came close to winning the 2024 PGA Professional Championship (T6). This helped him with a spot at the PGA Championship and final qualifying stages at the U.S. Open and The Open Championship.
