The LIV Golf Invitational Series is just three days away. The first event of the controversial series is about to begin on Thursday, 9th June, at the Centurion Club in London. Meanwhile, the field has some decent names with players like Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, and Kevin Na participating in the event.

However, there is no clarity about the event yet, like whether the golfers will get Official World Golf Ranking points this week. Meanwhile, according to Nosferatu, the prominent OWGR update account on Twitter, there are no OWGR points for the LIV Golf Invitational Series as of now.
He recently posted an update on his Twitter account by sharing the screenshot from the OWGR website. And there is no mention of LIV Golf events in this week’s events section. Hence, this confirms there are no OWGR points available this week for golfers competing in the rival league.

However, it is imperative to note that their application to be included hasn’t been denied yet. According to Joshua Perry, a prominent sports writer, LIV Golf has applied for the OWGR points. But the application takes a long time to process, and hence, the organizers knew they won’t get the OWGR points at least in the first event.

But, they are hopeful of getting approval and receiving OWGR points for each event based on the field strength soon. Therefore, even though golfers will not receive any OWGR points this week, it will be interesting to see how things unfold moving ahead.

The 2022 LIV Golf Invitational Series field
The first event of the 2022 LIV Golf Invitational Series is just a few days away. However, the list of all the 48 golfers competing in this event is not yet made public. There are around 42 confirmed golfers in the field, with five golfers making it to the event through the Asian Tour qualification.

However, they have still left the spot open, and they have disclosed no details about the same. Most fans believe it was for Phil Mickelson, while others think it’s for someone else. Moreover, they will decide the teams for the first event at the draft on June 7, where each captain will select 3 team positions via a snake draft format.
