After last year’s solo second performance, Tiger Woods and his son, Charlie Woods, will tee up at the PNC Championship in Orlando this December. It will be the first time the legend will play since the 150th Open Championship in the Old Course, St. Andrews. Nonetheless, his latest statement reveals that he has not lost confidence in his team.

“We have been looking forward to this week all year,” Woods stated when the officials announced he and Charlie (Woods) would be part of the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club from December 15. “And we can’t wait to team up together for our third PNC Championship.”

Tiger Woods and Charlie Woods are more than ready for the father-son event for the third time

Woods entered the unofficial PGA Tour Champions tournament in 2020 with his 11-year-old son. They could only finish 7th in their debut match. However, the duo was able to climb all the way up on the leaderboard when they competed last year, finishing in at solo second. The increase in rank in the second appearance and one more year to practice has made the 15-time major champion confident.

“It is going to be a very special week, and I know that Charlie and I will have a blast,” he stated. Notably, the golfer considers playing golf with his son as a way to connect with him. “This is such a special opportunity as a dad to get to compete with my son,” he continued, “against so many golfing greats and their family members.”

Notably, the 2021 PNC Championship was the first event he attended after his accident in 2021. Even though Woods struggled to keep up with others, he played last year for his son. However, the pair managed to impress everyone with their teamwork and golf, as they made 11 birdies in a row.

Who else will compete at the 2022 PNC Championship?

Apart from Tiger Woods and his son, another 19 past major events or PLAYERS Championship winners and one of their family members are playing in Orlando next month. The list of players includes Gary Player, Justin Thomas, Nelly Korda, Jordan Spieth, and Annika Sorenstam

Notably, John Daly and his son John Daly II will also take part in the competition to defend their title. Bernhard Langer and his son, the 2020 champions, can also pose a threat to the Woods pair from claiming their first-ever title together.
