The 2022 U. S. Open begins on June 16 at the Brookline Country Club in Massachusetts. Many LIV Golf players are participating in the event despite being suspended by the PGA Tour. However, a question still stands; is Tiger Woods a part of the field this week?
“I previously informed the USGA that I will not be competing in the @usopengolf,” Woods tweeted. “My body needs more time to get stronger for major championship golf.” Earlier, the gofer committed to play in the event in April this year.

He chose to withdraw his name from the field since he is not physically fit to play. Woods made a comeback in the Masters this year after recovering from a car accident he had in February 2021. He made the cut and finished all the rounds at the Augusta National.
However, such was not the case with the PGA Championship. Although Woods made the cut, he had to withdraw from the tournament after the third round. He looked in pain throughout the event, and the worse weather at Southern Hills didn’t help him either.

According to his post, the golfer still needs time before making another comeback. And he won’t be in contention to win another major.
Has Tiger Woods ever won a U. S. Open?
Three of the 15 major championships Tiger Woods won throughout his career were the U. S. Open Championships.

He won his first-ever U. S. Open and third major at the Valhalla Golf Club in 2000. Woods claimed his second Wanamaker Trophy in 2002 at the Bethpage Black. While he won the first event in a playoff, he dominated the second with a 2-shot lead. The 15-time major champion claimed his 14th major and last U. S Open title in 2008 at Torrey Pines.

When can the golf world expect Woods’ return?
“I do hope and plan to be ready to play in Ireland at @JPProAm,” Woods revealed in his tweet. The JP McManus Pro-Am is a two-day event that begins on July 4.

In his past three appearances, Woods won the event once in 2000 at Limerick Golf Club. Adare Manor in Ireland is hosting the event this year. Additionally, the golfer expressed his intention to play in the upcoming Open Championship. Like the U. S. Open, he has won the Open Championship three times.
