Jordan Spieth talks about the partnership

Spieth was asked about suitable golf partner qualities during the press conference yesterday. And the state of mind required to be a good golf partner. Spieth was very clear about his answer: someone with fierceness should be a good partner—a person who is not afraid of giving their best.

A good partner is someone who has chemistry and is unapologetic. He had this excellent experience with Justin Thomas and Patrick Reed. But with Dustin Johnson, it was different. He did not find the fierceness in him. However, they were great partners.

Jordan Spieth Reveals the ‘Worst’ Moment of His Golfing Career

He said, I love Justin’s fieriness. I had that with Patrick as well. With D.J., it wasn’t that way, right? We still had a great partnership too.”

This makes Johnson different from Reed and Thomas. They both have had the will to give their best, and Spieth enjoys games with them. He felt they complement the game.

Qualities of a partner

Spieth explained the qualities of the partner he prefers. He says that players complimenting each other are always better. Thomas tends to enjoy the game, even though he doesn’t hit all the fairways. Yet he is an excellent golfer.

Spieth said he trusts Justin around the greens and for speed putts.

According to Spieth, the partners must be like ‘yin and yang’. A partner who is a bit chill is what Spieth prefers. He also likes someone who has the ability to give the game more edge and fire it up. If both qualities are not possible in a partner, Spieth at least expects one feature.

Either fire it up and give the game a little more or be chilled and laid back, if not both.
