Though the PGA Tour Champions is considered to be a Senior Tour, the numbers recorded in the Tour are much better than some of the golfers in their prime. Bernhard Langer, who is probably the greatest player of the Champions Tour, has yet another remarkable round at the Hoag Classic tournament and had some words for fellow competitors ahead of the final round.

The ongoing PGA Tour Champions event is currently taking place at the Newport Beach Country Club in California. Langer leads the tournament with a total score of 12 under par ahead of the final round. He amazed everyone with a stunning score of 66 in the second round. As he inches closer to a historical win, the German had some words for fellow competitors on the leaderboard.

The German golfer joined the Senior Tour back in 2007. Since then, he has tied for the most wins (45) in the PGA Tour Champions along with Hale Irwin. However, Langer can outshine Irwin with a Hoag Classic win on Sunday. After the penultimate round in Newport Beach Country Club, the two-time Masters winner looked in a great mood.

“I didn’t shoot my age today”, said the 65-year-old who scored five under 71 in the second round. He then discussed being satisfied with his comeback after a not-so-very-pleasant back nine. “I was happy coming back with five under on the back, on the backside after struggling a bit”, said Bernhard Langer.

The 45-time PGA Tour Champions winner then discussed how the final round will be a ‘shootout’. Langer said, “If you look at the leaderboard, there’s so many guys up there within five or six. So it’s anybody’s right now”. Though the German golfer may be leading the Hoag Classic, Doug Barron and Spanish golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez is only a stroke below him.

The trio is then followed by a leaderboard with plenty of contenders with one score difference. While Bernhard Langer may have won 45 events in the PGA Tour Champions, his 46th and most historical one, won’t be an easy task. However, the 65-year-old is known for breaking records in the Senior Tour and might smash another one this Sunday.
