The final major of the 2023 season is almost in its final leg. With 54 holes done, the leaderboard for the championship looks quite intriguing, with Brian Harman topping the chart unexpectedly. Well, that’s the beauty of the sport—every tournament is full of surprises! But other than his surprising form and game, there is one more thing about the current leader that requires quite an explanation!

Harman’s mystery has escalated in the golf world, so much so that the fans are now agonizing about it. The golf enthusiasts are now demanding an explanation as to what it means and how it is not right to cause delay at such a big event worth millions. So what is this mystery? Let’s find out!

Brian Harman’s pre-shot routine mystery escalates

Harman emerged as the leader of the scoreboard at the $16.5 million Open Championship after the third round on Saturday. Although the golfer has displayed a stellar game the past three days, there is something about his pre-shot routine that is attracting quite a lot of attention.

On Saturday, at the 12th hole, a spectator recorded a preshot moment of the golfer, and he particularly thought that his television was “glitching” as he captured the moment. He posted a video on Twitter of the 36-year-old waggling at least 12 times before he swung his club to hit the ball toward the hole.

While the golfer was on the 12th hole, he was in the lead with four shots, but his waggling and waddling were just over the top. But the question arises: Why does the golfer do it? Well, whatever he does, it seems to be working out just fine for him. Harman’s coach, Justin Parsons, revealed that he is aware of his routine and that it is something he is working on. But the golfer primarily does not pull the trigger on the shot until he believes he is ready to do so!

The waggles may be about pulling the trigger when the golfer is ready,but for the golf fanatics, the delay in the shot is not sitting well. And taking to the viral video on Twitter, they made sure Harman knew their feelings!

The golf world reacts to Harman’s waggles 

It could certainly be right to say that the waggling causes delay in the golfer’s shot and hence causes the entire game to slow down, thus bringing the golf world back to its hot topic of slow pace, and fans were quick to point this issue out online!

Another fan pointed out the delay and asked how long the tee shots take later in the day.

One golf enthusiast pointed to Cantlay’s slow play and commented:

One fan complained about requiring the “shot clock” to time the shot. And others commented about timing the shot to avoid causing any delay.
