Just recently, the final playing field for the fast-approaching PGA Championship this season was released. While many new names were added to the list, one name absent was Sergio Garcia. Sergio Garcia will miss out on the 2023 PGA Championship

A few Tour stars like Tiger Woods and Will Zalatoris have been omitted from the 155-player field for this year’s second major, due to health concerns. But another name whose absence has raised plenty of eyebrows is Sergio Garcia’s. The Spanish golfer has been in attendance for every major championship since the 1999 British Open.

The last time the former Masters victor missed out on a major due to eligibility criteria was at the 1999 US Open. Since then, Garcia has only missed one other major championship, the 2020 Masters, only because he tested positive for COVID-19. Sharing this statistic, Golf Digest took to Instagram and wrote, Sergio played in 84 straight majors from 1999 to 2020. 😲.” It is certainly both shocking and unfortunate for fans to see him miss out on a major due to eligibility after all these decades!
