World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler Follows in the Footsteps of Greg Norman and Earns an Unwanted Record at the Presidents Cup

PGA Tour member Scottie Scheffler is trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons. He unintentionally matched Greg Norman’s record. Norman is currently the head of LIV Golf, a Saudi-backed golf company that has been controversial recently.

While the golfer is going well for himself, the undesirable record caught attention.

What is the unwanted record?

Scottie Scheffler is a pro golfer who has achieved great success on the PGA Tour. He has been World Number 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking since August 2022. However, Scottie’s skills and achievements were questioned after his recent performance at the Presidents Cup. Scheffler’s performance came with much public speculation after he unknowingly set the unwanted record.

Scottie Scheffler is reportedly the first golfer after Greg Norman, who could not win either of the first two matches in a Presidents Cup.

Scottie Scheffler Picks Q-School Over the Masters in a Significant Career Aspect

This news came as a shock to all his fans when Justin Ray, Head of Content at ‘TwentyFirstGrp’, tweeted about it. He wrote, Scottie Scheffler: first time reigning world number 1 did not win either of his first 2 matches in a #PresidentsCup since Greg Norman in 1996.”

Many fans feel Scheffler was outstanding this year. He won four times and earned the Masters championship – his first major title. He needed a captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup. So he ensured he wouldn’t have to sweat for making place on the Presidents Cup USA Team. Adding up his FedEx cup points, he made it to the team with 12,670 points.

Davis Love III, the captain of the USA Team, had words of praise for Scottie. He said that Scottie is an outstanding player and has gained enough experience and improved his skills over the years.

Fans may agree to this, as in 2022, they saw Scottie’s true potential when he claimed the title of No. 1 player worldwide. He’s earned the respect of his fellow teammates. Everyone hoped this President Cup was just the beginning of many more tour events.
