Most athletes follow vigorous diets and exercise routines to make sure they’re able to perform at their best. They believe that living a healthy lifestyle is part of their professional responsibility. While all of these athletes are on one end of the spectrum, John Daly is on the other. The PGA Tour veteran lives the most controversial lifestyle for an athlete. In a recent interview, he even suggested that he didn’t think he would live this long.

When it comes to his sports skills, Daly is unquestionably great. The American earned himself the name ‘Long John’ because of his powerful drive. Despite his health choices, Daly went on to win five times on the PGA Tour, including two majors.
Daly recently shocked his fans and the media with his comments at the PNC Championship interview. While many thought Daly would have regrets for the way he spent his youth, the golf great opened up and said, “If I knew that I was going to live this long I would have taken worse care of myself.” Daly’s claim came despite having suffered through many health issues.

Daly was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2020. He had a vigorous diet of cigarettes, alcohol, and junk food, that caused it . He said, “Everything I love to eat and drink causes the stones that causes the cancer.” He named them said, “Alcohol. Beef. Milk. Diet drinks. I’ve tried to cut back on the smokes.” Considering how the PGA Tour star already lives a carefree life, many fans wondered if it were possible for Daly to have taken worse care of himself.
What are the habits that John Daly thinks he should have worsened?
Daly’s diet was so full of junk that he once stated that he didn’t drink any water at all. He said in an interview with Graham Bensinger, “You know I don’t drink water. I hate water. I cannot stand drinking water.” The golfer further added that his staple diet was “12 to 20 diet cokes a day.”

Diet Coke wasn’t all Daly drank; the golfer was also a dedicated alcohol consumer. “I could drink, probably a case to 35 beers a day, or 40… Easily, yeah,” he boasted. “I wouldn’t sober up until the 13th hole,” he added, claiming that he broke all golf records while being drunk.

He further proudly stated that he used to be able to eat “two Big Macs, two or three cheeseburgers,” a “chocolate shake,” and “regular Coke” in just one sitting. In 2014, he claimed to be smoking around 40 cigarettes per day. Daly added that his ideal cardio would be him smoking on a treadmill, smirked, and asked, “I don’t think they will let me into the gym if I do that.” Will they?“
