Martina Navratilova is one of the greatest players in tennis. After retiring as an athlete after winning the mixed doubles at the 2006 US Open, she has devoted her time as a social activist. She often raises her voice against social issues like inequality. Hence, when Greg Norman began the LIV Golf Invitational Series, she was one of the first to protest against it.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova doesn’t support LIV Golf Invitational Series

LIV Series held its inaugural event at the Centurion Club in London from June 9 to 11. Even before it started, the players joining the league, including 6-time major champion Phil Mickelson, have been stating that the new Series will “grow the game.”

Since its inception, the LIV Series has gotten nothing but hatred. It was mainly because of its alliance with the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund, Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Reports suggest that the state government of PIF has been involved in human rights violation activities. Therefore, when a reporter shared the picture of four LIV golfers, including Dustin Johnson and Louis Oosthuizen, at the press meet ahead of the inaugural league event, Navratilova tweeted it.

Notably, it was not the first time Navratilova had spoken her mind. She was one of the few to speak against the legendary Andre AgassiSteffi Graf‘s romance. “It’s a very unlikely couple,” she said about their relationship.

The former tennis star was also never scared to talk about what she thinks is wrong in the sport. She had once said this about training young players, “I need to deal with the player, not the mother or the father,” she continued, “that’s not a situation that would work for me.”
