Nonetheless, their engagement didn’t last long, as the sporting couple had an ugly breakup in 2015. While the news disappointed many of their fans, Wozniacki later revealed how she felt when the golfer told the world about the end of their relationship.

During their time together, McIlroy and Wozniacki were the power couple of the sporting world. The tennis star would publicly show support for her then-beau at golf tournaments. The couple even announced their engagement in late 2013. However, things didn’t go as planned for the sporting greats, as they called off their engagement a year later.

Nonetheless, three years later, Wozniacki revealed in an interview with Graham Bensinger how she had no choice but to face scrutiny since McIlroy broke news to the public. “It was very hard because you know he made it very public from the start”, said Caroline.

She then added how the golfer’s press release left her with no choice. “He put out a press release and all of that so I didn’t have a choice”, said the Tennis star. Wozniacki even claimed the breakup news just ‘got put in my face’. Nonetheless, she ended the message on a high note stating to be in a better place than she was in her past years.
